hi chaps,

seem to be having the same problems as everyone else regarding the heaters.
my parents own a 2.3 ultima estate r reg.
they have had it from new and its a belting motor until recently when some un insured driver run into the rear end of ithttp://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/YaBBImages/cry.gif
it obviously had nothing to do with the problem but needed to get it off ma chest!!!!!
any way no heat is coming out of the heaters using air con or not and also the temp gauge never rises out of the blue. had problem in the past with thermostat, but since replacing it its been ok.
i managed to find a scrap scorpio so took the module off it and tried that (resetting the climate control ect....) but still no heat.fault 07. ive also flushed the matrix out at work but im thinking it could be something else.
the air con has never been re gassed and as soon as you turn the heaters on the radiator fans come on.
i have some knowledge in the motor vehicle industry and im in it for the long haul, but some guidence would be appreciated
many thanks gareth!!

Hello and Welcome Grin

Are the heater hoses hot going into and out of the bulkhead?

Just to clarify, does the heater fan blow but only cold air?

its the matrix blocked for sure.....ive had this issue for the past 12mths and have a new matrix ready to put in but putting off the day..

mine went cold again a month ago ...spent an hour flushing both ways ..lots of junk   came out and now hot again ... for a while

if not sorted the inlet hose from the stat to the heater will balloon / split due to high temp worth looking at ..that happened to mine changed the hose

easy to check outlet matrix hose temp... at back of water pump

hi there

just to confirm, the thermostat has been replaced in the past?
if so, how long ago? 2.3's do go through 'stats for some reason, so might need a new one.

Yes "the temp gauge never gets out of the blue" is a bit of a clue here (?)

Er, by which I mean if the coolant is only luke warm then so will be the heater (?)

why will the rad fans come on when the heaters are switched on?
is this a knock on effect or another issue?

If the aircon is on with the heating, then the rad fans will run at low speed (when the compressor cycles on).
