Soak in WD40? I was told off for not using the handbrake, need it to otch up the rear pad adjusters

This page from 'How to do things' shows the components of the caliper. The first picture shows the fulcrum to which the hand brake cable attaches. You need to soak that in WD40 as suggested and then lever it back and forth to free it up. You will see that it is held on the caliper by a small bolt. If you undo that just a turn or two you can lever the arm up a little and tap it back down. This, hopefully, will free it off. Let us know how you get on.

And as mentioned elsewhere recently, don't take the bolt completely out! As it all kinda falls to bits
