Evening all, i'm david just joined, i don't own a scorpio but i am building a trike with a 2ltr 16v scorpio engine and auto box and that's where my problem is. Thanks to the ford tis and autodata i have been able to wire everything up except for the one thing, the wires from the pats transceiver (around key barrel) to where ever they go, does any body know? I can't check at the moment but i believe there are four wires there but i don't know the colour code without checking. Many thanks david i forgot to mention that the ecu has pats built into it.

Hi David On a scorpio the pats is a seperate unit that the transciver just plugs into, are you sure the ECU is scorpio or an Escort rs2000?

Hi Matt, i read that early scorpios were a seperate unit and then became joined, i check this with my local ford garage and they confirmed this and the autodata wiring diagrams show wiring for the ecu with and without pats, the ford garage didn't mention anything about rs2000 so i'm not sure. david Matt, do you know where the pats is located, as i'll go back to my local breakers to see if i can find it. ta

I believe above the glove box, next door to the ECU and in a sort of cage (?)

This page shows the unit which is located,as MikeH says, behind the glove boxwhich drops right down to access it. The Pats section is usually held in with a riveted bracket to prevent its easy removal!. The glovebox drops by slipping off the catches at the forward edge on each side.

The ECU is the riveted bit,the PATS unit is to the right of it,a black box in a bare metal cage/bracket which is bolted in,they are,as designed,a sod to remove. GOZZ.

| As it don't do too badly power wise with about one and a half tons of car attached I reckon that's going to go like a certain brown coloured waste material off of a certain type of gardening implement

We had a guy on a few years back making a trike with a 24v engine and box, once he got the wiring sorted etc we never heard from him again. I assume he is dead

it's a (1995) 2.0ltr 16v with a auto box however i started from scratch with the wiring loom because there was so much i didn't need on the original one, plus i wanted the charge start and run harness seperate from the the rest.

With the engine/ box loom its all needed to run it except for a few air con wires . In my opinion you would be better off using the original loom and shortening it . The starting/inhibutor system is wired through the pats and the pats it needs to see its there otherwise it wont work properly and you might not get it started . How far have you got with your loom ?

all done as of today except for the pats transceiver (round key barrel) and anyother pats wiring. The loom for the engine and box is intact all i've done is rewired from the connecter blocks (x2) Maybe you could answer this for me aswell, the diagram for the ecu lists all the pin numbers/wire colour, but some pins list a second number to use if you have pats, so could i rearrange those wire to bypass the pats? thanks
