Rear bulb cluster

Please can anyone tell me if the rear bulb clsuter on my Scorpio Estate is the same as a saloon? My near side tail light has topped working. I changed to a new bulb (which I have tested) but the light still doesn't work, so am guessing I may ned to change the cluster.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

no, completely different part.

The clusters themselves shouldnt really go wrong unless they get broken.

Are you getting power through the multiplug for the sidelight?

I sometimes get corrosion/furring on the multiplug terminals causing the same problem, light spray of WD40 and a few wiggles in and out may sort it

Still baffled by this.

Had a friend today test the electrics. It appears that that there is no power coming through the orange and white wire that I believe is the near side tail late. There is power coming through the same wire on the off-side.

So confident that the cluster is ok.

Not sure what to do next. Friend said it may be a relay but I can't see one in the handbook that controls the rear tail lights. I believe there is only one fuse that controls that both tail lights, so s one side works don't think it can be fuse related.

Could it be anything to do with the control know on the dashboard?

Any other ideas?

Does the car have a towbar ?
Maybe where the connection to the towbar electrics has been made a bad connection or broken wire has resulted ?

Must be wiring, trace it back till you find the break, tailgate hinges and under the rear seat around the front of the wheel arch are favourite spots

Thanks. No towbar.

Stupid question, but where do the wires go? I see they disappear into the rear wing (it's an estate) but where do the go from there?

When you say under the rear seat, will I be able to find the wires inside the car or will I need to get underneath? Seem strange that only one of these wires is not working (brake light, indicator, fog light all work on rear near side, but not tail light)

Wiring loom normally runs along the inside of the drivers side sill under the plastic trim & carpet, then under the rear seat and into the hollow section of the rear wing and then to the rear lights etc...

Not really, just means one wire is broken, it would be stranger if none of them worked.

You may find the rest of them are starting to get chaffed in the same area though

Oh dear, not having much luck finding the wires. In fact, notice now that the 2 rear number plate bulbs are off. Haven't tried bulbs yet, but suspect part of the same prob.
Just to re-cap it's an estate. I can see the wires from the number plates heading off diagonally towards the rear driver' side but can't find where they go after that.

Do I needpull off the rear inside panels? As far as I can see there are no cables near/under the rear seats. I have also taken off the lower front dash (under the light control switch, but no clues there.

Are there any pictures I can look at anywhere?

Just been reading somewhere about a problem some Scorpio owners have had with the mutiplug behind the light swith on the dashboard, whereby one or more of the slots on the multiplug has melted slightly or the pins got out of place.

Will check and see if that's the problem.
