24v estate failed mot! economic viable repairs?

As above, my new ebay aqusition failed mot! just wondered wether it is worth the outlay, and if parts are availiable?
2 rear brake pipes, the ones to the actual callipers,
both rear shocks lower bushes are worn out, can the bushes be renewed or do i need two shocks?
Both front lower wishbones with bearings, are these availiable?
i can repair sills and replace tyres,
Any advice on availiablity or cost Please?

I take it you mean brake hoses. They should be no problem. As this is an estate you will need replacement shock absorbers which are prohibitive unless you can source second hand. The bushes are NOT,as yet, replaceable. The front wishbones may also be available second hand. Try parts for sale/wanted.

Thanks Highlander, i might well try them, at the moment i have a chance with a bit of luck getting a pair i bought 3 years ago for another ultima i had, now scrapped, if that falls through i would willingly try Merc. cheers Bob

Thanks Simmo, actually its the metal ones to the rear callipers, very badly corroded! but i may be able to get all i need from a car i had 3 years ago, that one had more use than the one i just bought, which seems to have been
stood in a very wet place for a long time. Bob

The metal brake pipes will need to be made up - you can do these yourself if you have a brake pipe flaring kit - not that expensive - or any garage or some motor factors should be able to make them up for you at a reasonable price.

Hi Mike yes there is rust as well, in both sills and rear wheel arches, also a crack on drivers side chassis just where it sweeps up over the back axle, but it did not fail on the rust, just advisory, i had the chassis rust on my 2-3 estate also, (still got this waiting to do cylinder head crack) but that one was far worse!i made a shoe shape from the box section of a 4 inch metpost (made for fences) and got it welded up and coated black, with this one, when i change the tank i will get a plate welded over the crack.) it.s safer with no fuel around,
i am considering new sills and wheels arches. cheers Bob
