hi yeah we were thinking the prndl switch, but the car has got to go back again to the garage as since having the head and timing done the chain is now slacking i think someone maybe right its cursed. if doing the chain would they of touched the oil pump chain? and would they have to replace with new one? if so would that result in the oil not going to the tappets

They need not detach the oil pump chain to remove the timing chain for head removal,if the oil pump was not being driven it would have been curtains for your engine by now,it would also be vibrating badly as the oil pump chain drives the balance shafts. There is a fair chance that the noise you hear is as you say,a slack timing chain due to improper refitting of guides,or failure to fit a NEW hydraulic tensioner in the prescribed manner. GOZZ.
