Problems changing Fuel Shut Off Loom

Just got a call from my exasperated mechanic.....he's on with fitting the fuel shut off loom but can't get to the connectors below the fuel injection intake manifold. He says he can't even get his hand in to disconnect the old one and was asking if he need to remove the manifold From what I gather nothing usually needs to be removed to change the loom so any advice...apart from hire a midget to go in and do it Is this connector the infamous Crank position sensor that everyone struggles with? I think he said that it was "three or four wires" he's having trouble with so that sounds like a multiplug rather than the crank position sensor? Any pointers glady received. Oooops! Forgot the obvious...it's a '95 2.0 16V DOHC Auto Thanks David

When my sparkie removed the FSOL on my doner (2.0ltr 16v) all he had to do to get at every connection was remove the air intake pipe at the throttle body for connectors on the intake manifold and the under engine splash guard for the crank sensor and oil light connector.

There's are methods to my madness!!! I'm not sure what the methods are but there's definitely madness in them

Thanks for the tip, he'd already done both of those (he just called as I was reading your reply!) He's sorted it now. What he also did was removed the starter motor and oil filter and after that he said he could get straight at the connectors. Thanks again for your help. David

With the 2.3 the two difficult connectors mentioned here: http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/dohcloom.htm need to be accessed from underneath, the single pin one is the oil pressure switch & quite difficult to bend your hand to get to it. The crank sensor is tight to the oil filter. Both are easier to do with the oil filter removed. they are also clipped to the engine but I didn’t realise that until I had the manifold off (to do another job). I imagine the same applies to the 2.0 -------- Good to see he's done it
