Hi,

The 5W30 is the right oil to use!

The noisy tappets on the 12V is just an adjustment !
The 12V is the Cologne from the granada's capri's & cortina's.

The tappetts on the 12v are HYDRAULIC and should never be adjusted manually.

As dave says there is no manual adjustment on the scorpio version of the 12v have a looj at your push rods and rocker arms for wear, the tappets can be removed, stripped and cleaned if its just gummed up

My apologies,

I thought they were the same as the old 12V's

I did know a fella who would split hydraulic tappets, clean them & put them back together & would run no problem  Roll Eyes

Nigel.
If someone has been adjusting the tappets thinking them to be of the Granada variety they will rattle. At 'K reg' the Granada was fitted with a cat and hydraulic tappets, the adjusters were left in situ, this of course continued into the Scorpio and confused many owners. If you take the rocker covers off and check the clearances, which should not exist, and remove any clearance without overtightening, that will cure the problem as the hydraulic insert will take up the required setting.
I bought a 12v limo that sounded like the hammers of Hell,on checking the settings they were spot on a la Granada, removing the clearances rendered it like silk.To remove the tappets the cylinder heads have to come off,a lot of work !!
