yes thanks for noting....when i did the mod I couldnt remember which edge touches the caliper so did both to be sure ! it's odd when Ive had a new carrier fitted that there's a space; tried different pads only very small difference in widths

So is it that pads aren't made to original specs anymore ?....cos I've never had this problem before up until about 18 months ago 
Are they now made in China or summut ?  .....What is the world coming to when you have to modify brand new brake pads so that they fit properly
