Hi Highlander, Thanks for that prompt info - the "Quinton Hazell" QWB 1181 (ebay) looks good but, I've just realised that my Cossie, although first registered in October 1996, is actually a November 1995 Build!!, so I'm just wondering whether this Bearing kit is actually correct for my beast - any thoughts? Cheers KeithCEng

I don't think they changed the bearing during production so it will be the same , In fact it is the same as the Granada rear wheel bearing, the carrier is stronger on the 24v AFAIK.

Yes the bearings are all the same, the 24v carrier has longer caliper lugs to accommodate the bigger disc diameter.

Many thanks to Snoopy and gozz for that input - I'll be getting my mobile Mechanic mate to change the bearing (which I have just ordered) - Is it worthwhile ordering a new Carrier and a new Wheel hub just in case the old worn bearing has scored either the carrier and/or the hub? - If so, is there a good online source of these bits (cheaper than Ford!)? Cheers KeithCEng

The hub is always first to suffer after a bearing failure, followed some time later by the carrier, which usually survives until the bearings disintegrate. There are of course, plenty of used replacements about which need to be scrutinised carefully.I don't think any pattern parts are made as in the scheme of things Scorpio was a low volume model. The hub,Ford FINIS 6156880 is about £100.If the wear on yours is minimal,it could be resleeved for about £30-£40.The hub nut MUST be torqued to 200lb/ft after fitment. GOZZ.

Thanks for that gozz - looks like I'll have to fork out to Mr. Ford for a new hub! - incidentally, does the hub contain the "rotor" for the ABS/TCS system sensor or does that reside elsewhere? Cheers KeithCEng

No, the ABS ring stays on the shaft but it's easier to clean with the hub & carrier out of the way.
