Problems with 2007 Radio/CD Changer System

Hi, I've got the old '2007' radio system with CD Changer as my car is an M reg Scorpio Ultima. My CD changer has completely stopped working i.e not able to remove CD cartridge etc. I have connected the unit up to my wife's Scorpio and it works fine so the head unit is not faulty. The 2007 unit doesn't seem to detect the presence of the changer as I'm not able to turn it on by pressing the CD/Man button. For a while now when the CD changer was working it would suddenly cause a blip to the music i.e a sudden quick pause (not a skip fault due to CD scratches) on various discs and not at the same spot all the time. I've turned the tape player on and it only plays out of the drivers side speaker. This is not a tape fault as it plays fine on a tape player in the house. I wonder if the two faults are related? Any thoughts, is my separate amplifier faulty, or the head unit? or wiring? I really miss my CD's so i'm keen to sort this out! Cheers, Simon

The pages relating to the radios are Here. I am not familiar with this model but if the CD player is 'remote' ie in the boot then there is a known problem with the wiring to these in that a soldered connection near the unit 'dries' out and can cause problems.

I should add that there are no problems with the radio. The CD changer is stored in the boot as I have an Ultima. Cheers, Simon

The fault is mentioned in the 'Fault Finder' section Here. Scroll down to the Radio section.

I'm glad to say that you were spot on with your diagnosis, it was a bad wire in the boot causing me problems. Thanks for your help, Simon
