Replacement Battery kills drivers seat?

Replaced the Battery last weekend, everything was normal except for drivers window that wouldn't one shot up. Then the "Mrs" says she can't drive it with the seat so far back. It wont move,up or down forward or back, but the lumbar support works. Then the window fixed itself but the seat wont. Pressing the memory button alters the mirrors but not the seat. Passenger side is fine so is fuse 6. Any Ideas

Check the connections under the seat and just for luck try fuse 43 in the auxillary fusebox as that controls the heated seats. May be a link?.

Looking at the diagrams F14 is mentioned for manual cars but no harm in checking, F26 is also listed, this is shown as power window front in the handbook. The fact your one shot window didn’t work is probably a red-herring as they have to learn/be taught where the limits of travel are before they work. In the handbook several fuses are wrongly listed or only show part of what they do so checking all fuses may be worth trying.

Possibly the seat module under the seat? They are prone to failure

It shouldn’t matter that the seats down, you just remove the 2 bolts facing forward as shown on page 1 of the PDF & tip the seat back to get at the plugs. As the yellow seatbelt connectors are under there it says in the PDF you should disconnect the battery first. The plastic rear seat runner guards can break when you tip the seat back so unscrew them if you still have them fitted. http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/interior/seat/fseatassyhi.pdf

When you find the right bolts the seat tips back ok. Now I take it the black plastic box is the seat controller. had a quick look inside can't see anything untoward, can they be repaired or do I just look for another? Will try swapping it from the other car just to make sure that is the problem. Is there anything under here that sets off the airbag

Yep the black box is the seat module. Airbags : Possibly, disconnect the battery first just to be safe. Diesel autos would be facelifts so may have the airbag in the side of the seat too remember

Available as of February 98 http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/revisions.htm You might not have them but when you've got your chin resting on them while you're feeling around under the seat its worth being aware of them

There is a warning sticker on the side of the seat says airbag but has a seatbelt warning picture (Pretensioner) I can't see anywhere one could deploy from, so presume (with care) there isn't one fitted.

Looks like there is an airbag there. Can't see it, but there are yellow wires going to the panel. Exchanged memory module from other car and it now works, so it looks like I am looking for a memory module, has anyone got one spare?

| Bill, the easy way to tell is to check the VIN plate on the lower front windscreen, drivers side. they mark the number of airbags on there so the fire brigade know what they're dealing with when they're cutting you out of the car X 1 is the Drivers airbag x 2 is Driver and Passenger x 4 is Driver, Passenger and side airbags (as fitted on some but not all facelifts) HOWEVER... Bear in mind that many Scorpios will have experienced seat/interior changes you won't really know for sure without physically looking

Stuart as always you know the easy way. Indeed it says x4 The memory module has 96GG-13C789-AC PROCS CNTL ASSY- SEAT printed on the plastic casing and F6RF-14A608-MC (PWB4949) SEAT MEMORY MODULE printed on the circuit board. (must learn how to post pictures!) Cant see anything wrong with it. Is there a common cause of failure?

I don't think anyone has ever investigated Bill, they usually just get replaced but they probably can be fixed by some of our more electronically minded members?
