windscreen washers

The passenger side windscreen washer has packed up. Had a quick look and pretty sure it is not just blocked. There are a pair of wires going to it. Does it have an electric shut off valve or motor that requires power? Any ideas how I get it off without damaging the bonnet as I can't see any obvious way it is fixed on?

The wires are for the heating element which only works when the front screen heater is switched on. The most likely cause IS that the jets are blocked. To remove the jet unit you can VERY CAREFULLY slide a thin bladed instrument under the unit and prise upwards. Put some masking tape or similar on the paintwork to prevent damage. The unit just 'clips' into place. The other way is to open the bonnet, loosen the felt and try and get a flat bladed screwdriver in the aperture to lever the 'clip' enough to push it up. The clip is at the screen side and needs to be pushed back towards the engine. Frankly the first method is the easiest, just go steady. Best to disconnect the connectors under the bonnet first and, regretfully, there is every likelihood that the heater wires will have corroded and thus not stand the removal. If you gently warm the plastic pipes with a hair dryer or similar it will save a lot of effort in removing them and avoid the connectors snapping.

I have found the pictures that Simmo sent to me a long time ago showing the washer jets taken apart. I hope this helps in your task!

Wow that's actually quite sophisticated. Yes looks like you got some dross gone up the tube and block the nozzle. The only pump is in the actual washer bottle. Hence also the warning only add screen wash to the water, never detergent and the like. Though I knew someone used meths. Smelt potent
