Engine cutting out

I would be grateful for any advice on the following: the engine cuts out completely when I rev hard. The same thing happens when in neutral and I blip the throttle to say 4000-5000 rpm. After releasing, the revs come down to normal idling (c.900 rpm) for a couple of seconds and then the engine cuts out without warning. In both cases whether in neutral or driving I cannot restart the engine (although it fires momentarily) for around 10 minutes and then it starts normally. Not a nice experience when you need the extra revs! Thanks

Sounds rather like fuel pressure regulator. Checking with a code reader might be useful. What engine is it? Does it tickover OK if you don't rev it?

Or (and at risk of sounding like a scratched record ) could be loose wiring or connectors being shaken about or occasionally shorting somewhere. This sort of problem, with vaguely similar symptoms, has had another member going round in circles since April! Topic: "Help AA man has altered my idle speed"

Indeed wiring is the most common problem, but in this case it seemed more like an FPR issue so I’d not mentioned electrical - for now

Could still be FPR, I'm just trying to cover extra possibilities. Needs an OBD read really I suppose.

Sorry, I have reposted this problem in error today as I couldn't see it listed when I first looked. Could it be that I had changed my email address and only just remembered to alter it today? Thanks for your suggestions. I think I will start with the wiring problem, as it has started happening when slowing down, which could be causing a loose connector to shift position as could blipping the throttle.
