Currently I am using an FM Bluetooth transmitter to play MP3 files and use the phone in my Ultima. Now my CD unit has packed up and although I have a spare boot unit from a previous Scorpio I have decided I would like an FM Radio/CD with Bluetooth capability amd MP3/SD card input. I have found the following on Ebay …………..“Pioneer DEH-6300SD CD/MP3 PLAYER & FITTING KIT. This Package which costs £137.99 says it has all the faschia, wiring loom and stalk adaptor for it to be fitted to the Scorpio. If anyone has anyone any views as to how good a buy this is or can offer any alternative suggestions I would appreciate it. Ian Wallace

| Apparently you speak about this set. Under the model numer or part of it you can probably find the kit in ebay also. But it is important that you search for ...26-DEH6300SD. Otherwise you get sets for Transit, Focus, Orion etc. For me it is clear that the two important parts of the set are - DS-FO001 - Steering Control Stalk Adaptor and - Pioneer Patch Lead The first you can find separately. The second I have no details yet. But in combination with DS-F001 also a Sony patch lead is available for a cheaper Sony Radio. Also other patch leads for other brands and models are available by DynamicSounds directly or via their Ebay-Shop. Regards Armin

Armin I am in contact with Dynamic Sounds but at the moment I think that the DS-FO01 may only work with either the radio that had a separate amplifier or the lates one which I have which has the amp as part of the radio. I am going to follow up on monday but if you have aby vires I would appreciate your comment. Ian

| Sorry, but I do not understand. Firstly I thought, you intended to replace your existing Ford radio by a another brand/modell. So, why do you care about your existing radio? Secondly you say no other than "with separate amplifier" or more modern with "amplifier included". What other models do think exist from Ford for the Scorpio '95? Regards Armin

Blurb says: "stalk/steering wheel control adaptor enables you to utilise the original factory remote audio" so looks like it's all there on that web page. Package contents doesn't mention separate amp unit. Nobody has volunteered yet that they know anything about this kit, I don't, but you could be the first.

I have done a bit more work but am still not sure and can get no real clarification. In summary the position is as folleows: I have a ford scorpio with an rds 7000 radio fitted. This is the unit with the amplifier built in. My previous scorpio had an external amplifier somwhere near the heater matrix under the dash board. I am looking at the following advertised kit for putting an aftermarket radio/cd/mp3 player into the car. CTKFD26 - Car Stereo Fitting Kit for Ford Scorpio This kit consists of: Single Din Facia (Black Colour) Stereo Removal Keys Steering Wheel Interface Antenna Adapter I am trying to find out whether this package is designed to work with an rds 7000 which is the unit I have. I very much doubt that the package could work on both types of radio. If anyone has any knowledge in this area I would appreciate any comments. Ian Wallace

Sorry still confused, why do you want to keep the RD7000? Just been through that eBay blurb again, seems to do everything you want. Except play cassettes? Won't need an FM transmitter to play MP3 either?

I actually think that package WILL work withe either stereo type, because the protocol between remote buttons is the same for either of the factory fitted Stereos. FYI the Separate Amplifier on earlier units is IN the dash panel behind the passenger Airbag, and should be removed and have the speaker leads extended before going the "aftermarket" head unit route This is nigh on impossible without removing the whole bloody dash However as your car has 7000 series, this will not apply to you.
