Locked out! help please

locked out because my 12v has been off the road for a few months, i had been keeping it charged, but not running the engine as much as i should. i only ever had one key, not had time to change locks, never had a problem with just one key! this only worked the tailgate. and ig. all my tools are in this car, using it like a shed till i can tax it, that time is coming at last, however the key that works i now realise only when the battery is charged, now i realise the battery is flat, the car car has tow bar electrics, is there any way i can get in by using the tow bar electrics to charge the battery? just enough to unlock the tailgate? i have tried many other keys but no luck, do i have to smash a window, or drill holes in the bonnet? any help please, Regards prat Bob

The key doesn't require the battery to open the locks. I assume the lock and or key has worn to the point it no longer works. You could try some graphite powder or WD40.

A new key may work but it must be cut to the key code to give an unworn profile.

Thanks Simmo, have sent email, i am wondering if there is a permanent live feed to the caravan socket on the tow bar electrics, also because of the position of the car,up against a wall!  (pushed aside in the hope of getting a 24v, big mistake off ebay, rusted out! so scrapped.)  it will be difficult to get it jacked up, if there is a permenat live supply to tow bar i could perhaps connect charger to that?
cheers Bob

I did manage to get into mine through the grill just after I got it.   The cable had snapped.   The bonnet slam-panel is double skinned, so I had to use a very long drill-bit and drilled a hole and extended it to a slot right in front of the centre spring large enough to put a thin blade screwdriver in and then tap it sharply kind from nearside-front-corner, to offside-rear-corner, this released the bonnet.   I then oxy-acet' welded the hole back up.   Unfortunately my camera is with someone else or I could show a pic.   Of course as a precaution, I now have a cable attached to the bonnet release mechanism which I can fish out of the grill with an old coat-hanger, and release the bonnet manually.  Grin

Well after watching the AA man get into mine in 30 seconds, without any damage, I won't ever worry about getting locked out again.
