i know its a scorp club, but just on the off chance! this is what i posted on mondeo club. Hi all, New here, Got my son a mk 3 tddi, quite high mileage, but seemed a good car, His Daughter had to go into hostpital with suspected meningitis, and he was rushing home, suddenly loads of smoke! so stopped the car called AA who found the alternator had packed up, he has managed to get the old one off, but had great difficulty, with the serpentine belt. is there a way of releasing the tension on the belt to fit a new alternator please? Any advice please, cheers ro284
