Sorry if this topic has been covered before but I cant find the thread.

I have a 2.5TD VM 1998 est.
 fly by wire Scorpio.

started as now and again but now becoming more regular.

car runs fantastic but when lifting off the throttle engine cuts out and need to switch off to re start.

engine temp gauge some times stays in the cold section even though engine is hot,

engine man light not on.

Theres not many of those about. I thought I had them all. temp guage is probably a red herring mine do that regularly. Cutting out ?? is it auto or manual? could be fuel starvation? fuel primer pump?

it's a 5speed manual

If it was fuel starvation then it would not start straight away though.

Thinking of wiring the stop solenoid through a relay and new ignition fed wire

My auto fly-by-wire td does the same thing when its in top gear and you lift off the throttle quickly, I've found that if you keep your foot to the floor when it dies it slows and changes down a few gears before picking up again.

I believe its down to the electronically operated linkages inside the injector pump wearing.

The temperature gauge is usually caused by a failed sensor on the cylinder head.
