Water on floor, 2-3

I have had this car for 5 years, and have always had a damp floor on the passenger side, its been raining very hard today, so i tried to trace it again! it is not from heater, or under battery, but running down the inside trim of the door and running onto the carpet, so i put newspapers under the matt to soak it up, i have re-sealed the door rubber with silicon twice, (right over the door,) i could see it running down a 1/4 inch from the door seal, inside the car as if it is coming out of the dash between the clove box and the door running down the plastic trim that covers the inner sill, it's got me foxed! i have trouble clearing the screens to see where i'm going in the mornings! any ideas please? cheers Bob

Bob, Is the windscreen seal leaking. Has it been changed since you have had the car??

Other points worth a look may be are the aerial mounting and,if fitted, the sunroof. The drain holes in the sunroof of course have tubes which take the water out and down in the direction you mention. Could one be blocked/ kinked/or have been 'mislocated' so that water is not actually getting 'out'. A length of old curtain wire or flexible electrical wire should enable you to trace and locate the route.  Wink  Let us know how you get on. Smiley

Have you checked the door card seal?  It seems to be a common problem with Fords.  Have a look on www.mirez.co.uk/waterproblems.htm.  This may be of some help to you.
Cheers

You could try putting a small towel in various locations to see if that traps it? On its way so to speak. Just a thought

Ah!! Even so that looks quite diferent to the Scorpio set-up, which I think sucks up from an opening underneath (?) i.e. rain can't fall directly in from above, nevertheless, have you looked at the cabin filters?

Are you sure it's not coming from behind the battery area? Got a battery cover on?

Behind the batt there's a big rectangular (?) cable grommet I believe, if it's dislodged that's a favourite place for rain water getting in and wetting the carpet LHS. The ECU box is at serious risk as well as that's under there too. Hinged part of glove box comes off easy (but forgotten the details!), so you can look up underneath for an exploration?

Also make sure that water can drain out of the scuttle so it can escape

Oh here we are ~ Remove glovebox

Ah we've been here before haven't we? Found this thread from a year ago Grin

Thanks guys, yes Mike having trouble again, never found it last time either.i have not checked the filters, but will tomorow. have got a bat cover on and plastic bag, scuttle drain is clear, Also will take battery out to make sure, that was ok last year too. from where the water is showing it has been running down inside the trim and coming out through the top screw hole (just below dash) as the screw cap was missing! i think that is at a higher level than the battery, am thinking it still may be screen seal,
Thanks Bob

I agree does indeed suggest windscreen, could be top left edge ~ ah was going to ask about sunroof but you don't have one. Grin

Have you ever had the dash apart to find out what's going on inside? Problee some more clues inside

Thanks guys, it is the screen, i guess its been replaced at some time, the car has done 157 k, so will beef up the blue tack with silicon sealer.,
To find it i took off the inner plastic at the side of the screen, while squirting water at top left edge, as Mike suggested,

Thanks guys, yes Mike, i am also pleased you got it right Lee  Smiley Smiley Smiley
i do think the screen has been replaced, and i didn't realise the heated screen wires go to the top of the screen, i can only think the fitter was wary of damaging the connection. and did not put enough sealer round it! it is nice to see where i am going again,
thumbs up sign===

That kind of makes sense, yes if you use a magnifying glass (if can't see "normally" Grin ) the wires are indeed full height
