Hi Scott, Firstly and very carefully, clean the maf. Do NOT touch the filaments, use carb cleaner or WD40. It could be a good clean will fix the problem. If the hesitation still exists, then a /or both coil packs could be suspect. I do have some coil packs if you need them. Hope the info helps. Lee

Hi Lee, Thanks for your help mate, I tried cleaning the maf before but had little effect, but will try cleaning it again. How much would you want for the coil packs ? are they new ? and are they easy to fit ? You dont think it could be the shut off loom then ? Regards,Scott.

Of course it could be the Loom, is it crispy to the touch? I suggest feeling about the loom and perhaps carefully slipping a couple of wires to see if they're dark/black and brittle. Roll the wire between your fingers like rolling tobacco, you'll know!

Scott, As Peter say's, check the condition of the loom first, especially the wires that run to the coils themselves. The cables go crispy and the outer cabling of the wires crack and exposes the wires making them short out. The coil packs are easy to change, 10 minutes the two. 40.00 for the pair plus postage. Do your checks and let me know. Cheers Lee

Scott. If you look at This page and scroll to section 12 and 15 you'll see it is a simple job to access and remove the coil packs and check the wiring under the cover. Coil packs held down by two torx bolts. This page will also help. Click on the photos to enlarge them.

Hi Guys, Yep fears confirmed, it looks like it could well be the old loom, its indeed all cracked and crusty with wires exposed so guess they could easily but sorting out ! Next question is then - where's best place to pick up a new loom ? There's a company on ebay that does them for around £185, does this sound a good price ? Any feed back would be nice, Thanks,Scott.

| FWIW (and at risk of repeating myself) mine needed replacing, cleaning didn't do a lot. Guess was just 'old age' (?)

Even if the loom is cracked and grotty, the car apparently run,s and drives at 30, personally i would suspect the coil packs, i had a very similar problem, (pulling back under load,) on my 2-3, quickly resolved with Lee's help, also you can repair any insulation missing on the wires, the copper wires should not be broken but the insulation falls off, coil pack is an easy change. make sure the ign, is off! Hi Scott, Should still have them and yes, they are second hand but from a perfect running 2.0 of mine that hit a crash barrier during the snow of last year. New they are around 80.00 each. Will hunt them out for you. PM me your address and I will let you know the full cost including postage. Cheers Lee
