24v cosworth wiring issue

Hello, my name is sebastian and I am new on this forum. I am working on a kitcar project with a 24v cosworth engine. The engine was placed in the kitcar with the complete wiring loom. It ran great even without the ccm connected. I started cutting away the wiring wich I thought wasn't nescesarry. The last things I cut brought me a problem. I cut the wiring from the ccm and 1 other thing I don't remember what it was. When I turn the key now the led keeps flashing and after a while it gives a 1:6 code. I found out this means the is a faulty link between the PATS unit and the eec-v. I don't understand why because I did not cut any wires between these 2.... Is there another option than going to the local Ford dealer? Hope there is someone who can help me out. Thanks!

Sebastiaan, I have EMailed you my "Stand Alone" PATS wiring Diagram, which allows them to run without CCM, Dash Module, Alarm etc etc. So far, the only issue we have with this is that the LED does not flash with ignition off, but as you turn ignition on LED lights for a couple of seconds then goes out and engine will start and run normally, no codes in PATS module I will be doing another BOB conversion soon, so may be able to find the reason the LED don't flash LOL but so far I've not sussed that.................. I think it may be that the Alarm makes it flash with Ign Off, not sure LOL. Anyone else know why ?? HTH, Cheers Dave

Thanks for the diagram Dave. I will have a look soon if I can get it to fire up again.

Checked the wiring today and I think I found out what happened. When I cut the wires from the ccm I forgot to disconnect the battery. From what I read in the PATS-wiring diagram the GR/RD and the BU/RD wires go tt the eec-v. But what I found out is that these wires split up and also go to the ccm. So while cutting these wires with the battery connected I think I made a short circuit between them. Could it be I messed up the PATS unit doing this? Looks like it though.... If it did, is it possible Ford can program me a new one without having to change all parts involving ?

Check the fuses first, if you have the hand book they are the fuses marked ' electronics' A copy of the hand book can be found on the main site if not

Well after a lot of time looking for solutions, and reading about other people having wiring issues with the BOB I think I will be getting myself an programmable ecu like DTA or Kdfi. Have any of you worked with these? Have to look into functions like getting the VIS working. Anyway, thanks for the tips!

| Not DTA or Kdfi but I've had great success with Megasquirt on various cars, including a 24v BOB and you can run the VIS with a solenoid but didn't put the VIS in due to space restrictions (it was in a Westfield).
