Head Gasket Gone ???

Morning all.
I think my head gasket has gone.
Using water and making loud click noise when hot.
Temp gauge near hot.
Burning smell.
Any other things I could look at.

Compression test booked for later today.

2.3 Ultima. Was fine on way to mates (A mechanic coincidentally). Got there with a bad burning smell, lack of water (Always checked monthly) and temp gauge up to 3/4. He is the one going to do compression test today, hopefully.

It will just take longer to warm up and if you have any motorway driving it will run cold and use a bit more fuel

I'm useless at pointing people to the right thread, but I did a fairly comprehensive Thermostat change in the how to do things section.   You need to take your time, it can be tricky.

Ohh look Here it is. How did that happen??.  Grin
