Gearbox Probs on 24v.

Hi guys. Sorry been away for a while. Finally got the wiring loom sorted on the Cossie. One of the maintainance sparkies at Nestles has made me one and a fine job he has done too. The engine starts and runs like a dream. Problem I now have is the O/D light is flashing and have no first gear. Sets off as if in ice/snow mode. The car didn't have this fault originally but has been stood and not turned a wheel for many months. One idea I heard was it could be the MAF. Have changed this for a new one with no sucess Be greatful for any ideas specially as Harewood is looming.

Maybe a gearbox solenoid or something has gone open-circuit due to standing too long?
Bad electrical connection?
I'm assuming O/D starts flashing straightaway, which suggests to me problem found during start-up diagnostics (?)
I'm just guessing though.

Hi Mike. Yeh the O\D starts to flash as soon as the engine starts. Ws have checked all the connections and as far as we can tell all OK. As I'm only a DIY mechanic is there a process for checking the solenoids or is it a case of droping the box.

The ONLY man on here that can answer your question is the fabulous Dave2302 This guy re-builds automatic gearboxes with his eyes shut. Then he takes your car out for a drive and tells you what it's doing. I'm a fully qualified degree Engineer in heavy Engineering, and this guy blows me out of the water. But he's busy..............so private text him and he'll eventually get back to you. Nothing is quick with Dave!!!!!! But it is very much worth the wait.............

What is needed here is a code read, if the O/D lamp is flashing there will be codes stored in the ECU.
Write them down, then clear them all, re start it, go for a drive and then re read it to see what codes have come back................
This is neccesary because some of the codes you will get will probaly be "old codes" and send us off on a wild goose chase.
Once you've done this, tell me the codes that you're left with and I'll tell you where to look
