Pedro. Did they remove the mirror or the actual window from the door?. The electrical connection lead to the mirror if not routed correctly will foul the window carrier and stop it dropping as you describe. How do I know ? 'cos the same thing happened to me when a garage took the passenger mirror off in order to get the car into the spray bay and refitted it with the cable in the wrong place  Roll Eyes

John, You'll need to remove the door card as shown Here to start with. If they took the outer handle and lock off there is another possibility. The lock itself has a metal case over it which is held by a couple of screws. One of them is concealed behing a small flap of metal which needs to be prised in towards the interior in order to access the screw. IF on refitting they did not bother to either break it right off or lever it back into place that will also foul the metal runner as the clearance is critical. With the door card off you should soon see which is the cause. Just remember that the foam and polythene covering the openings in the inner door skin needs to be sealed back to prevent water getting on to the door card. The mastic is a pig and will stick to everything. You may find it easier to 'feel' the openings, cut neatly around the outlines, and then reseal with tape.  Wink

To remove the mirror itself read This. It only shows a manual mirror but the access is the same for electric. I take it you have electric mirrors?. If not the 'tag' on the door lock cover is the most likely suspect.

Another page Here will give you even more idea and tips together with photos.

When you are on the site PM me a landline number and I'll ring you if that would help. Wink

What Simmo said, if only moving 2 inches does suggest it's hanging up on something immediately below. Mirror cable routing is a pig but must be like that to avoid the window runner.

If you route it by what looks like the 'easiest way', it's most likely wrong  Smiley

This is my photo after refitting mine, not too obvious but at top right the cable has to go through exactly the same gap as does the top loom in photo (wrapped in black tape), and the plugs just about go through this gap! Note also cable tie as originally to make sure they don't move about.

Thanks Mike. That will be a great help for John I'm sure. You are absolutely right about the routing. That's what they did with mine....took the easy route!!. The door lock cover I mentioned is the same situation. Leave that 'flap' sticking out and the window can't pass.  Wink

PS: memory is hazy but I think the thing the cabling has to go in front of, is I think the actual window runner. Once this is realised, it becomes clear why it can't go behind Grin

Your right.  Wink The vertical channel in which the glass runs has to allow the bottom frame, holding the glass, to move. If the cable is not routed the correct way the frame simply catches on the wiring. Because it is a bit of a fiddle to route it that's why people take the 'easy' route only to find 'it don't work!' Usually when they've put the door back together as well!. Roll Eyes

Mike H. Just had a PM from John. It was that metal 'tang' on the door lock cover. Problem solved. Grin
