Quite likely a faulty thermostat but could be an airlock/partial blockage in the heater loop. Heat from the matrix at this time of year isn’t really a good indication of how well it works.

There should be a 'Thermostat' how to do I think. For the Four cylinder engines.

| There is ! Lee. Make sure you get a Ford one....I know it may be dearer....BUT ..when I did mine the pattern one wouldn't fit because the design was not identical and I had to buy from Ford. If I recall there was a slot or something in the original?Remember to soak the fitting with WD before trying to undo the bolts. Update. The part number for mine was 6994257 and the rubber ring 1092262. £20 !! January 2011.

I concur with jonnycab etc., I've got this problem. Well doesn't "fluctuate", just doesn't get up to mid in the cold weather. Should really do something about it maybe

| Or like aerosol penetrating fluid, and leave overnight to soak in.
