24v runs, but badly

Hello,

I have finally done the conversion to my mk2 Granada and swapped the old 2.8 carbed engine with the 24v BOB.
Setup: T9 gearbox, mk2 Granada radiator, Scorpio water expansion tank, EGR, lambdas (all 4 of them) still in place, Scorpio fuse boxes stuffed underneath the dashboard + key reader + PATS + LED.

Problems:
- misfires and it has a very slow throttle response
- it seems to heat up really quickly and fans won't come on (so I unplugged the ECT and they now run all the time)
- I need to wire my rev counter and electric power steering to something similar to the (-) negative on the old 2.8 coil and I don't know where.

I also scanned it and the DTC's are: P0118, P0755, P070, P1000, P1754, P1270, P1260.

I'm not sure if the water circuit is correct (the small hoses to and from the expansion tank)

Help please!

The codes are here:
http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/codes.htm

Apart from P0117 Engine Coolant Temperature circuit Low Input,
they are mainly autobox codes.
P070?
P1260 Theft Detected - Engine Disabled - presumably an old code.

Assuming the other codes are live
P1270 Engine RPM or Vehicle Speed Limiter Reached
Is an autobox code I’ve had when the engine runs badly.

P1000 OBD-II Monitor Testing Incomplete won’t go until you fix the temp sensor.

Hopefully getting rid of the phantom box especially P1270 will solve some of your problems,
No doubt those who’ve done it will be along to tell you how.

Added
With regard it heating up quickly if there’s unburned fuel entering the cats due to the misfire there can be a lot of heat generated in the engine compartment due to fuel burning in the cats – there is the possibility of causing damage to them.

A mechanic suggested the timing might be wrong by one tooth. Do you have a guide for setting the timing right ?

The engine was in LOS mode because I didn't follow Matt's guide (manual conversion) to the end and didn't plug the 4 relays. I just thought there was no problem as the O/D light wasn't flashing without them, but an OBD2 scan revealed there were transmission related problems and the engine went in LOS.

The idle is still racing a bit and there are misfires in the first seconds after I start it, but then it runs well and pulls as it should  Grin. For the moment I am pleased and I hope these problems will cure after the ECU makes its settings.

There's something else that's bothering me ATM: what is the temperature at which the fans should start ? Mines only start when the needle is really close to the red zone, but that's on the Granada gauge and with the Granada temperature sender from the old engine.

Thanks for your help!

There should be a high and low speed setting for the fans, from 2 wires from ECU, which switch relays............

The temperatures they switch in at are high first (low speed), comes in around 92 degrees !!

I am using a V6 Manual Mondeo ECU, and a modified cooling arrangement, Alloy Radiator and by pass hose system removed, plus a 72 degree Stat in the top hose on my BOB Powered 4X4 Puma.
It now runs much cooler, fans hardly ever cut in  Wink

The only down side to the Mondy ECU is that you have to fit a separate controller for the VIS system, takes a bit of messing around to get it right  Wink
