Scorpio Estate Probable Total Loss

Hi all, I haven't been on here for a very long time as have had no need and was just happily driving my Scorp Estate but now sadly thanks to an inattentive driver at the weekend it is almost certain to be a total loss.
Brief details, we were stationary in traffic and thumped up the back by a 4 by 4 doing - according to the police between 30 and 40 mph. Net result is the shell has buckled, the roof and floor are creased, can't open the tailgate or LH passenger doors and when driven the short distance home with police escort it wants to turn left all the time. On the plus side the seats / headrests did their job and prevented the whiplash effects being too severe.
Its a real shame as it was a nice car and had been very reliable once I had the gearbox replaced shortly after I bought the car four years ago.

Sorry to hear about your motor. Most definitely a right-off senario due to the damage. Get as much as you can from the insurance company for your car AND your injuries. There's another scorpio out there waiting for you

Thanks Leewar, the car has now been confirmed as a total loss and I have just collected a very nice 1983 Granada 2.8i Ghia X Estate for a very reasonable sum, so going back 15 years in car history and back to the GSO website probably.
As regards the injuries, the other side's insurance are being very good. Just waiting for details of the payout now.

Fletch, I had the saloon version and that was a great car for the eighteen years I owned it. Shame about your car though. Not owning a scorpio does not bar you from visiting this site. Everyone's experience on this site is invaluable. Cheers Lee

Update, have now been offered £850 by the other side's insurance, up from £625 after a lot of haggling. I also have the possibility of keeping the car and stripping it for salvage. The car was in vey good condition but is it worth the bother? Thoughts from the collective appreciated.

Stripping a car is always time consuming. If you have the space, and the time, and the storage, and the know-how, then it's probably worth it. I've got a whole spare car that I'm still loath to break because it's too good. I have the space and the storage, but it's outside and cold! If the interior is good and the insurance don't want money for the salvage I'd be tempted to keep it and break it myself.

Mice love a stored car..with all that lovely leather to munch on! Bear in mind if you are able to store it, deterioration will set in surprisingly quickly, but at least you have a pool of parts, and you might be able to sell some.
Sad to hear of the demise of a rare estate, they are the best version I think...haven't been able to replace an older one I had (now munched by mice) though.
BTW. If plural of house is houses why isn't it mouses for mouse? Who does these things? Think I'll go and have a little sit down now.

If at all possible keep it if you dont return to a scorp in the future parts may keep someone else going and give you a bit of pocket money. There is still the scrap value after all useful bits removed.

It still has ongoing major issues as in when someone posts any replies have to be made by making a new post.
there are more issues but I cant remember what they are.
GSO is running a temporary site until the issues can be rectified, when that will be I have no idea.

Rodders - thanks for the update on GSO.
I have now been paid for the Scorpio and have negotiated to keep the wreck so there may be spares for sale. Basically interior and anything forward of the rear doors is in good condition / undamaged. It also has a reasonable set of 12 spokes with good tyres.

Its a 2.9 12v, just clocked 120,000 miles (on the journey when the accident happened) and had a recon gearbox about 14,000 miles ago.
