window wipers

hi, I can't get my window wipers to switch off on my cosworth, I've put the stalk in the right place, but they still come on, on the slowest setting. I called spikies for some spare bits, facelift front grill etc, I think he said there is a sensor that needs replacing for the wipers, not heard back from him yet though. Any ideas? Also aircon pump is making a grinding noise, think it has seized as I left the car standing for a few months. Anyone got a cheap spare? Thanks

The only thing I can think of which might have a bearing on the fault is the relay for intermittent wiping which is R2 in the main, drivers side, fusebox. Otherwise possibly the switch itself.

Thanks Simmo, I shall investigate the relay next week. The air con pump fixed itself, but these wipers are proving harder.
