Ticking noise, likely exhaust gasket leak

Hi I ran my scorpio 24v the other day for the first time in a little while and there was a new ticking noise from the engine bay. I'm pretty sure its the exhaust manifold on the side with the oil filler cap and power steering tank. I've seen some new gaskets for £18 on an auction site and got the workshop manual page for the job. Any tips before I start this job? Looks like I will have to remove quite a lot of bits to fix this. Thanks

its not that bad a job actually! soak the nuts in wd40.similar (they should be stainless steel) or better still if you have the correct size torx socket you can unscrew the stud from the head.

If you unscrew the studs you can slide out the old gasket and slide the new one in without having to seperate the manifold from the down pipe. The old gasket(s) might need a few gentle taps from a flat bladed screw driver to shift first though.

I got this wrong, started the car again after a few days and the ticking noise had gone, maybe it was a sticky valve, not sure. I have a set of three exhaust manifold gaskets for a bob cosworth, (seals one bank only)for sale now. I paid just over £20 from a maindealer, they are metal and high quality, dealer said not many available, were a special order.
