Please help.
I am running a 2.3 Facelift Scorpio Ultima on a budget.

Can anyone give advice regarding the corrosion that builds up on alloy wheels, My car is fitted with the Ford 12 Spoke Ultima alloys, which because of their age leak from the seal made where the tyre comes in contact with the rim.
Does anyone have any experience using Goop puncture sealant or any of the other brands to cure this problem.
I have heard that tyre fitters do not recommend the use of these products because of the mess left inside the tyre when the tyre is removed.
I have looked into having my wheels refurbished?.
In the ads I have seen it appears that its only the the face of the wheel that is repaired not the whole wheel, which will not cure my problem, and that costs up to £75.00 per wheel, a friend suggested having the wheels powder coated in an effort to cure the problem, I can only imagine the cost of this procedure on all of my wheels.
My last puncture repair cost me £45.00 because of the work involved in sanding down the corrosion that had built up inside the wheel rim, that was preventing the tyre from making a good seal, also it took half a can of that black mastic looking Xtra-Seal Bead Sealant to seal the tyre.
Is this bead sealant the answer to my issue.
My only concern using a product like this is, if I have puncture will that impeed the repair process.
I do not have the equipment to remove the tyres from the rims myself to complete this repair.

I've had both sets of my 12-spokes powder-coated, one set in silver one set in black.   I thought there was pictures up here somewhere but couldn't find.   Both sets been done for over a year and not a mark on them, and I live in far North of Scotland where pure-salt goes on the roads in winter.   The silver set cost £50 a rim, the Black set cost £65 a rim because the guy that did them removed and replaced the tyres and balanced them.   The whole rim is done with powder-coating, so inside and outside looks brand-new.   The better job was done on the silver set.   My Jag wheels will be next!

Just got a few pics of the car with the powder-coated black alloys on today.   The nearside photo's show one over exposed to see the wheels more readily.  Enjoy.   Cheesy

What type of tyre valve have you got, I found if the standard all rubber valves are fitted they can leak where they meet the rim.

Tyre valves are screw-down Stainless-Steel for the Black Wheels, and 'Blind' Screw-in Stainless-Steel with a special valve insert when you want to inflate, for the silver wheels.

Pede....any decent tyre fitter should sand down the inside of the rim first before they fit a new/part worn tyre...& if they don't, then they aren't a decent tyre fitter  Wink
