waterbottle leaking

I've got a standard water bottle i.e no head lamp washers and the last time I filled it up, just about all the contents ended up on the floor within a couple of hours. Anybody have any ideas what the likely cause will be and how easy is it to remove it from the car? The sensor also appears not to be working as the light doesn't come on the dash. The light does work when the ignition is started, so it's not a bulb fault. Cheers, Simon

The washer pump is fitted in the base and has tubing attached. Could that have come adrift?. The access is from under the car. The pump is just a push fit into the bottle so that could have come loose. The Pump and grommet should come out together as the grommet is like a 'cap' which fits over the neck of the pump and is in fact a filter. It may look solid, if so it is just gunged up and a rinse off will reveal a fine screen. IIRC the bottle is just held on the wing with a bolt and will drop out once that is released. IF you've had problems with water reaching the washers it may well be that the filter screen is bunged up and pressure has forced the tubing off. This thread may also help.

The bottle also splits although it may not be visible in situ. Happened to me a few years ago
