Part numbers-drivers door module

Sorry to go on about this but I'm puzzled.
Some of you will remember my posts about one shot window closing and door electrical problems. Well having got all 3 with one shot closing (thanks to a new module in the one with only opening), the other 24v developed electrical failure in the drivers door. This has turned out to be a failed door module and so I have re-used the module I took out but of course only have one shot opening.
The failed module is numbered 96GG13C791-AA (open and close) serial no 007208
The re-used one is 95GG13C791-AF (open only) serial no 021024.
I have tried looking up how to decode the part number but the web sites only seem to quote American examples and seem slightly different in format.
Looking on e-bay there are several in Germany with 96GG13C791-AA but also different suffixes such as AF AE all appearing to come from late models(1997).
The ones clearly photographed seem to have serial numbers higher than A021000.
Should modules with the same number behave identically or would that be too simple for our Scorpios (and Ford)?
Anyone understand it ? 
I suppose I will have to take out the 2 that do up and down to see what their numbers are
