Power steering leak on Cosworth

Hi All,
Noticed a small leak of fluid - examination shows it's coming from the rubber tube leading from the PS switch to the rack. This tube has a 2" brass collar about half way along its length right where it rests on the undertray. The leak occurs at 1 end of the collar. Although it's a small leak at moment it's sufficient to start alarm bells ringing so wanted to change it.
Unfortunately, Trevor at FPUK says he can't find it anywhere so it must be obsolete (part no 1068235).
Does anyone know of another source or any other ideas on how to sort this?

Had the same problem, must of had the last pipe from trevor. I went to a hydralic pipe repair firm local to me who said they could repair it for app £90, but as a new one was still poss I went for that, cost £140.
Spikes has them, not sure how much, sorry i am not a lot of help.
That was the part number of the one I had.

Update. Just looked up the firm and if you go to This page click 'find out more' and have a look at the video. They make up hoses to order so essentially they should be able to help you. I'm sure you'll let us know how you get on.

Our local Pirtek depot has been very helpful to me when needing something obscure,their main operation is mobile hydraulic repairs on construction and agricultural plant etc,they are not particularly cheap,but obliging.

Thanks Lads,
will contact local Pirtek centre: they say they need the original to use the end fittings on the new hose but can make new hose up in 30 mins. This'll take some thinking about re removing hose, draining PAS fluid etc.
More to follow ...

Its not to bad to remove and refit, one bolt on the rack end, union on pump + support bracket. To drain the system take out the switch, have bowl ready  . I still have the old pipe just in case, it may be unused but the new part is still several years old. I did get hold of spike when I was looking, and he had one, and a breakers yard on ebay, but I already had the other then. Good luck with it.

now sorted.
Took it to local Pirtek. Bloke looked at it and took the usual large intake of breath and said it couldn't be done  as the hose end was too close to the PS switch and risked crushing/damaging the pipe either removing hose or welding new hose on. After discussion he got the boss (they're franchises) and he did the job.
20 mins and £62 later I had a new hose fitted to pipes. Now no leaks and works a dream now though occasionally have a little rumble when turning at low speed.
I've got a picture of new fitting but not yet got round to uploading it.

Paul, Did they suspend the car to do the job?. Don't forget IF they did you may need to turn the wheel from Lock to Lock a few times to rid the air. Best done on loose gravel or with the front just jacked enough to relieve the full weight on the front wheels so as not to strain the system.Known issue.

I took the piece with me - luckily they're practically beside local tram stop. They didn't remove it from the car - not allowed - not insured for it although they are insured to change over hoses for industrial vehicles.
System bled after refitting by turning to full lock etc. Rumble may be due to car being raised but it's been a week now - might take a little longer.
