I seem to have a leak from the rear of the engine and i cannot for love nor money seem to see where its from. Ive had mirrors and allsorts round the back and cant see anything apart from the rusty trail i can just see over the bellhousing and the dripping on the floor. I cant see any pipes round there. Is it possible the HG can be weeping or is there an obvious thing that breaks. I think there is a coreplug round there but with my menagery of mirrors that seems to look ok. Any help appreciated. Cheers.

As it’s a rusty trail could be insufficient anti freeze & blown a core plug in the cold weather – only say that on the basis I only see white trails from leaks on 50/50 mix. At the back of the head near the inlet manifold there is a blanking plate (where the stat is fitted on Galaxy’s) feel around there for a leak. Locations of core plugs here: http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/leaks.htm

Hi there...I've not owned a Scorpio for a couple of years now, so my knowledge is getting a little rusty (a bit like your leak) , but have you checked that it's not a leak from the heater matrix inlet/outlet pipes. From memory, the matrix pipes are made of plastic, which over the years goes brittle & cracks/breaks. Hope this helps UPDATE BY Simmo. This page gives information on where the pipes are located on the engine bulkhead. Update by Jonnycab....Simmo, that page is for the AC drain pipes. I was referring to the matrix pipes that enter/exit the bulkhead directly behind the back of the cylinder head
