Broken Shafts

Hi Guys, Have any of you ever come across a situation where the alternator is snapping its shafts ? I have a 97 2.5TD Ultima estate that broke the alt shaft, I replaced the Alt with a new one and also put a different vac pump on, not a new one but one that I had checked and cleaned up and was working fine. This new setup did 200 miles before snapping the alt shaft again ! . The only thing I can think is that the vac pump is being starved of oil but when i check the feed pipes they seems to be plenty of oil present in them, I,m guessing that the vac pump draws its own supply from the sump and they is no other pump involved. Can any body shed any light on this please as I now have another alternator to go on but am wary of it snapping another !!
