Key Fob transmitter

In the past 3 weeks my remote key fob is going through batteries at a fast rate, when batteries are installed the fob works every time as I did a Mod 2 years back and used TACK switches.

I've recently fitted tactile switches to my Scorpio remotes and had some issues when initially soldering with bridged  traces as it's such a fiddly job.

It might be you have an intermittently bridged pair of traces....I'd check with a multimeter to be sure because that could cause the remote button to be activated unintentionally and drain the battery faster.

Hi David, and any other members who have fitted TECTILE switches,

I chescked the circuit  and no shorts, so what I did was to put a piece of paper between the underside of the switch and chassis, It is now 2 months since I did this mod and it has cured the everlasting change of batteries.
What I think was happening is - when the back was put together it was pushing the switch to earth.

Agreed. Had similar problem with solder shorting one of the lugs to the case which then pushes on the printed circuit board (the boot kept opening.) Now whenever I convert one I cover the back of the switches with sticky tape.
