Locking wheel cap

Ok hopefully a simple one. The wheel covers have a 3 point locking screw, and I have the correct tool, however they are stiff and I can see that in the past someone has had problems and cracked the plastic handle and put a jubilee clip around it to try and strengthen it. Rather than strain it further just wondering if a small drift on one of the holes in the locking screw to start it would work, and then when I have them out clean up the threads and put a tiny bit of copper ease on them to stop them seizing in the future.
Any tips welcome.

Can you get any WD-40 or similar around the locking screw ?
I made a tool up for these using an old socket, epoxy putty & some short pieces of metal rod which fit in the holes.

Changed mine over to 'Button-Socket-Head-Stainless'. Copper-slip will help in the future, but always remember, Copper-Slip facilitates 'over-tightening'.

Had to use penetrating oil and needle nose pliers in the past. Now a bit of copper grease each time they come off.

Hello,
I am new here but I had this problem on my cossie (stood a long time) wd40 spray on or equivalent, but nearly broke my hand and the tool at the same time and they wouldn't move.
The trick is to tap the end of the 3 slotted bolt firmly with a hammer then tighten the bolt, this beaks the seal caused by bi-metallic corrosion (steel into aluminium) and they all came undone (with some force).
