pats light on

Hello have the pats light on all the time, looks really bright in the dark! Have tried double locking etc to no avail, dont ever use the remote so rules that out. However if you lift the bonnet the light goes out but come on again if you press the switch on the slam panel down, have disconnected and reconnected the battery (so now I can use the radio code!). System works fine and sets to a blip every 3 seconds if you leave the bonnet up, have soaked the area in wd40 but the back of the switch is hard to get to. Am I just looking at a replacement switch (has been wet and very windy here lately, may dry out??). Roy

Rusty switch. Be careful, the mounting will be very brittle in this colder weather. WD is ok but best use silicon grease. You'll need to get that switch out and clean it thoroughly. I suggest giving it a little heat with a hair-dryer or (from a distance) heat-gun. I had to do just this job and everything went back to normal.

Thanks, is it easier just to change the switch, or are these a 1 off to the scorpio? Will have to take the 2.3 ghia out tomorrow as I am not going 300 miles with that b** light on (family usual Xmas slaughter meeting!) Anyone have a spare switch? Roy

Found a switch in my spares stash which I think might be the bonnet switch - difficult to make out the P/N but it looks like 93BG19L538GB The 2 wires look like black & black/yellow The switch plunger is sprung and has a rubber boot a bit like a small CV joint gaiter.

Thanks for the offer Mike but I am hold off changing it at present. I think all the wind/rain must have affected it in the last week or so, as I originally stated I soaked it in wd40, had to do a family trip yesterday so I took the 2.3 ghia instead leaving the other to stand for the day. Went back to it today and pulled the coonector out to disconnect and clean as PJ Davis had said only tro find all is well! So "if it aint broke don't fix it" is todays motto, still trying to get the window to 1 touch close though Thanks guys for all your help Roy
