Door Mirror - Partial Paralysis

Just noticed my passenger side door mirror has stopped dipping on reverse. Tried with the control on the driver's door and it will adjust from side to side but not up and down. I can't find any description of it's system showing the motors etc - only how to remove the manual mirror. Anyone know where it is described or where to check in case I don't have to take the door apart ? Glyn (it's a '96 24v)
