fans not running

Had the temperature gauge going up a bit so thought must be the thermostat playing up. Have checked and the fans are not running with the aircon on and the aircon compressor is not coming in. Have checked the fuses and they are ok. Any thoughts please, Gerald.

Wiring issue..same as mine I guess which is awaiting a 'Tompion' fix!
I have got a switch in the car with a direct feed from the battery to one fan an IF I use the car I have it on full time.
Be very watchful as my rad went and finding a new one was not easy or cheap!
You can check the fans themselves are OK by just putting 12v to them BUT IF you think of running both you will need much heavier cable as there is a lot of power required. I initially tried with just some cable I had and things got very warm very quickly!! One fan will do the trick for normal usage.

Just checked and there is very little gas left in the aircon, so the compressor wont come in and that may be why the fans are not running. Time for a regas.

You might well have a leak in the A/C system.
I think an A/C service company will do an integrity check before attempting a re-gas and will refuse to refill if there are leaks - think that is the law these days.

Gas now ok, well in the green, but the compressor is still not running Angry > Do I need to do a reset on the climate control, not done one ever on the car. All was ok when I put it back on the road in November. I have tested one of the fans which is ok, d/s one. What is the green relay for behind the D/s headlight, is it to do with the fans ?.

Yes green relay is for fans. I don't think a reset will help.

If you want to test the fans, disconnecting the engine coolant sensor should make them come on.

if you have OBD software you should be able to test the fans from there.

I have powered the aircon compressor and now the fans are working.
Checked the aircon pressure and topped up, and all is working as it should now. I have got a new thermostat if the temp plays up again, but may have been due to the aircon problem. thanks for the help.
