Retrofitting extras

Hey guys, I have recently purchased a mint 24V Cosworth sedan, but it has no cruise control, electric seats and cd changer. My other Scorpio, has all of the above mentioned options. I have gathered info that electric seat swap is straight forward, as the wires are under the carpet, but how about cruise control and cd changer? How much do I need to take off from the parts car to retrofit the cruise control and is it even possible? When I installed cruise control on my MK4 Golf it was just a question of pluging the right wires and activating with a PC. But in this case I don't even know if it is possible to activate anything with a PC, because it is an older car. Is a CD changer retrofit straight forward? Do I have to replace the radio control module which is under the dash and is a pain to get to?

What year and model? Would be a help, as the seat wiring did change as did the seat belt pre tensioners.

Hi, my jan 95cos saloon had only 1 full electric seat and passenger heated only, and when swapped from a 96 cos saloon the seat wiring was different and had to interchange all to make it work (seat belt on electric prompt opposed to gas fired on early car). The dipping rear mirror suddenly worked also when we swapped the seats over, possible you may only need to swap the passenger one (and modify the wires perchance), for all to work, as I had a note with the car history that dipping mirror not working (from a member on here when he owned the car). STILL cant get 1 touch closing on drivers door window AAARRRGGGHHH

Hi Roy Sounds as though you need a new drivers door module. It happened to one of mine but make sure you get the right variant. Glyn

Hi Tompion, mine is jan 95 build date and didnt have dipping mirror till I changed the seats to all electric, supposed Ultima but no badges (Ultima in logbook) had 1 touch close once when first I had the car but it went to bodyshop and came back without 1 touch closing. Tried quite a few variations on it and none seem to work, everything else fine electrically. Thanks Roy

Roy. There is a way to program the one-touch back in. Did you not get a lot of paper-work from me? I bet the way to program that back in is in the paper-work, or in my wee note-book for 'Movvy'. I think Simmo or one of the other 'big-men' told me how. It's not so easy.

Hi Peter, I have tried all the variations! I find these have worked with the others I have, as with the strong winds & rain we had back in march time we had 2 start up with needle flick on the dash at the same time. Don't know why this happened but had it at the same time on both - both have had new batteries since my ownership, both we OK after sorting needle flick and window closure. Roy

A description of the cruise system is here: http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/ccmanl.htm As far as petrol engine cars are concerned, how difficult it would be probably depends on how much wiring is in place. The actuator plug is shown in one of the PDF's, it's similar in appearance to the EDIS plug (several wires in one row with a large side clip), if it's there I think it usually comes from the loom to the ABS module.

I have a remote control from a different scorpio. Can it be programmed to work with mine? I found the thread regarding reprogamming, but it doesn't say anyhting about it being possible or impossible. Since the remote currently is not working, I cannot check if it can be programmed. If it is possible, then I could go ahed and bring it back to life.

Your remote should be capable of reprogramming once it is functioning correctly.
