Hi all, my problem is that when i turn the engine over from cold she fires up and all the needles on the instruments go haywire and the trip mileage zeros. Can anyone throw some light on this please?

Its normaly because the battery is a bit flat, recharge it and see if that helps.

Yes if it shows 12.5 v or less on display when not running you will probably need a battery soon.
To find the voltage press mileage reset button  with ign on for about 10 secs the displays change then and run through a sequence, stop at "batt" this will show static voltage.
Be aware next time you switch on you will get needle flick which it seems is what you are refering to. IF the needles stick right round (like youre doing 160mph) jus tap the dash as they reach the top of their travel as they power both up and down on restart.

I don't know if they all do this, mine certainly do-the units reset to the default km and litres. The same of course happens if the battery has been disconnected.

As has been said it is a classic sign of a battery issue.

I agree entirely. Every time this has happened to any of mine either the battery needed charging or replacing.

Hi Torbayboy, yeh did that with the mileage button and showing 10.8v so very helpful. So is there a chart showing what the other abbreviations mean?

As tompion says all info on that link, print it, it's useful.
Bear in mind also that if you use the reset button sometimes you will get "needle flick" on start up. Do not take any notice of this if your battery is good, it is just the panel resetting, also if you change/disconnect the battery you will need radio code and the car will have to learn how you drive again.

If the needles stick on full clockwise, turn off and on again and as the needles rise thump the dash, this will free them up as they are driven in both directions-otherwise you will have the only stationary Scorp doing 160 mph! vroom vroom

Ok, thank you, very informative. Snowdrop is a complex vehicle indeed but comfortable and sleek all the same. Sometimes i feel like she is doing 160mph just sat in her!!!

Can anyone help me with a couple of problems that the car has  after I had replaced the battery.
Scorpio ultima 1995 2ltre , owned for the last 20 years.
I entered the radio code stored 3 stations,
The cassette player played.
The multichange CD player and the column radio changer etc wont work.
There is power to CD player
The radio has never been out of the dash
Thanks
