Cosworth 24v cutting out after 25 minutes running

As title suggests my engine cuts out while running along the road and then wont start again until sufficiently cooled down it would seem. When trying to restart immediately after cut out it does fire but wont run. I swapped the fuel pump relay for a spare that I have in case it was overheating and breaking down in some way but doesn't seem to be that. I removed the lid from said relay and had both small coils operating with a switch across terminals 1 and 6. I have made a kind of diagram for this relay that I need to draw up sensibly (but if anyone has one somewhere it would be handy). With it firing I am back to thinking it may be fuel pump or regulator. Tomorrow I'm gonna put a fuel pressure gauge on the line and see what happens but if anyone has any other suggestions I'm all ears. I had originally thought it was an electrical problem as it cut out while running on lpg as well as on petrol but my lpg system sometimes switches back to petrol when I dont see it and this maybe has given me the wrong diagnosis originally. Anyway removed battery feed etc for a day to ensure no lpg switching or left over state and only running it on petrol at the moment to try to fix this issue.
I will post up what I find but am hoping it turns out to be a fuel starvation problem due to pump itself or such. This car so blooming complicated.

What year is it, as it could be the wiring, the insulation falls off.

Yeah it's Nov '94 with the Arnitel wiring. I have found the insulation off right at the plugs of all the engine top end sensors and these are now insulated there. Then the majority of wires at the Edis module which I have also slid heatshrink over each wire all way to the loom tape covering and bit further to ensure onto good insulation. Most of these wires had the insulation off and worst was the screened wires for VR sensor where the insulation broke done as it came out the loom and the screen I thought was shorting out the signal wires. One of my "to do" list is to lift off the inlet manifolds and inspect the loom in the "V" then repair and probably lengthen/re-route so that it is more accessible for future proofing. I see the loom goes to the gearbox(from a spare lot I have in the garage) so I would check the whole lot. I think this needs to be done sooner rather than later. I am hoping the Arnitel wiring was only affecting the "warm " areas around the engine bay and that in the rest of the vehicle its ok.

So I put my fuel pressure gauge onto the valve provided and ran engine in drive with fuel cap also off just to fully check the fueling side of things. Pressure remained constant even after engine finally cut out at 55 mins. So pump, regulator etc must be ok. The engine this time would restart run for a few seconds and then die out again. Pressure remained the same. Back to my drawing board. Bite the bullet and strip engine loom out methinks. Undecided
