one swiss company would not even come and see the car when some lowlife hit my bumper and broke it and they claimed they had no repairers in sussex or kent and i would have to get my own quotes and sent them in at which point the company would right it off because of age it makes you wonder what fully comprhensive actully means. there latest adds i believe should have an age warning and area warning if your car is over 10 years old or you live in the wrong place you can forget it rant over

I did - what a nightmare - was talking to different parts of the company that weren't talking to each other - I had to do all the chasing (even had to get the garage to try & sort out - -owner said he had to deal with them year before about an old lady's car - said they reduced her to tears) - they didn't even send the assessor to look at my car, just some kid with a camera and on the pics decided it was a cat D write off - what wasters - and they said given the age of car if I just damaged the wing mirror next year they'll write it off. Not 1 word from them at anytime during the claim - except now they're asking me to renew. They've got 2 chances of that - 1 slim, the other fat. rant over

| Very true re my XR4x4 it was totaly standard and I mean TOTALY standard right down to the radio cassette and then 3 engineers came round ( at differant times )to Measure the height of the car to the arch even checked the wheels and tyres were standard they were 165/55/14 ( I think ) one engineer told me if they were 175/55/14 or 165/60/14 etc then thats it insurance is. . . NULL AND VOID then it was bonnet up and checked the engine code and look for NOX and TURBO then I said . . "mate its bog standard as when it came out of factory" Oh ok we can see that now but even if you lowered it by 5mm then thats it no insurance he said thats how they get out of paying you he said so When they ask you has it been modified in any way and you say NO then lets say you lower it 5mm then guess what . . Yep null and void Hope this helps you all out if you do any thing like bigger tyers smaller wheels for gods sake TELL them

I quite agree, If you do ANY modification to your car even to replacing the radio INFORM your insurance co ... IN WRITING .... and keep copies ask them if it affects your insurance before you do any mods.... I fitted full leather in mine. I told the insurance co it does not cost very much and that way they are unable to use the get out clause written in MOST policies about informing them. In my previous life...I have seen so many people end up with just basic 3rd party insurance after accidents because they failed to tell insurance companies of very small modifications even wheels and tyres.

so jealous of all these premiums being boasted about!! I'm a new driver and my premiums are through the roof! First car is this P reg scorpio ultima 16v 2 litre saloon. I covered the length and breadth of insurers and ended up with admiral (groan after hearing stories on here)... TpF&T £1400 after some minor "tweaks" and paying monthly.

| I am an old bloke.....well 40 anway , & still the best quote for my scorpio diesel is £650 TPFT. As I said in a previous post I was quoted £325 for 3.5L V8 BMW. This was a couple of weeks ago, I can't see why the scorpio is so expensive to cover.

How much longer before Scorpios can be put on 'Classic' insurance policies ? Appreciate these policies are normally limited mileage but just curious as to what age a car has to be before it can qualify ? My 1986 Sierra XR4x4 cost £103 / 3000 miles per year fully comp
