Diesel Glow Plugs not heating

non starting diesel No glow plug light showing on dashboard Engine cranks but wont fire. Large 50 amp fuse (IV) for glowplugs in battery side fusebox ok. Glowplugs testing ok. If you follow the loom from the glowplugs it runs back to the bulkhead, joins the main loom below the battery tray then forward down the engine bay to a multiplug/large relay attached to the side of the air filter box, between it and the aircon compressor. My relay was dud, bridged the terminals initially to get it running and have now fitted another relay Quite a simple one but not in the fault finder and it might save someone hunting for the glowplug relay which is described in the fusebox layouts as being "in the engine compartment"
