Drive Belts
« on: Aug 17th, 2011, 2:29pm »

Think we need a wee reference guide for drive belt lengths to show the differences between cars equipped with Air Conditioning and those without.

If anyone knows the other models sizes (8v, 12v, diesel etc) or spots a mistake on these, let me know and i'll change them.

***EDIT*** there does appear to be different Finis numbers for 2.3 Manual versions, so will need to find out the differences between these too

***EDIT*** have just found another reference on the forum stating the 16v AC belt is 1905mm need to check that too.

Some people have fitted Transit specified belts when unable to find the correct Scorpio part so may well be worth a try if the length and number of ribs is the same.

The number of ribs on the belts would help too, I'm pretty sure the bigger engines have more

With the Td models, if dont have AC they have a large idler wheel instead, not sure a belt can be ran without either

different size belts Matt?

Is the idler pulley a different size to the AC pulley?

seems a silly way to do it but its probably how they did it Grin

Hey, try and get in touch with trev (wumps) his TD has the idle pully fitted

Also i think the 2.3 difference with the manuals and autos is a different size powersteering pully, im sure it was different on the 2 cars i had, but could of been a bodged pump lol
