Fine Timing chain Tuning

Hello, Maybe you tried to set the timing chain after having renewed engine or simply changing the timing chain and you don't find the good tuning ? It is what happened to me when renewing a BOA engine with BOB camshaft. The only adjustement seems to be to change the chain from 1 tooth to the next one. But sometimes it is to much or not enought I found a solution, not vey difficult if you know how to do a special washer. In fact the adjustement is possible because in the normal condition there is a washer with a center hole who made the connection between the drive plate and the camshaft sprockets. So if you made the washers with an eccentric hole, you can modify a little bit the timing. See my picture with 2 differents washers on the right and in the middle and the stock one on the left

I'm so sorry.... but what I was trying to share is also relevant for BOB engines. And in France the car where the BOA was fitted was called Scorpio ( the Granada end's here in the meddle of 80's )

Yes that's a good page. The part I'm speaking about are the "inserts", number 9 on the diagram. It's this part that I modified, by drilling a exenctric hole for fine tuning. I wished to insert picture as I promised in my previous post, but for the moment I'm not able to. I follow advise gived in the Forum but it use PhotoBucket and I don't ( because in France it's not free ).... I will try with another one.

I also made special tools, in oder to set the camshafts in the right position If anybody wish to reproduce them I can give the DXF file, which can be given to a laser cut factory.
