Sorry for the no-show..got to within 5 miles of Harewood Hall this AM when received the phone call that daughter in law (5 months gone) had been taken into hospital, had to rush back to take care of Lily (grand-daughter) and Basil (tripehound).
Sincere apologies alround.

Really good to see friends old and new, great turnout considering the weather, ranging from an 87 Granada Scorpio Mk1 to a stunning S Class, with an amazing amount of toys through to Gozz's pretty unique V reg CM 2.3 Ultima stretch Limo and some brilliant Ghias, Execs and Ultimas.

After a damp start, it turned into an absolutely brilliant day. For my part I would like to thank Stuart for organising the logistics (and providing a number of parts to transform my car) and to all the other cast of characters who helped me get to a point where my 2.5 now has:

A boot that absolutely springs open.
An AC that works thanks to a HBC that does what it should.
A CD player that does not skip, plays each disc and every track.
A facelift rear light cluster that replaces a cracked one (and another for one with a smaller crack
Finally a sunroof motor and sunroof that opens and closes as it should do.

I had meant to wait till I got home before tackling the jobs, but thanks to a variety of tools that people were carrying around with them (you know who you are!!!) the car is sorted, at least for the moment.

I know pictures of the event were being taken so I guess they will be up on the site before too long.

Cheers and roll on Harewood 2012

Nice to meet everyone today, shame the weather couldnt have done us more favours but nevertheless everyone seemed to be making the most of it. I would like to second what Geoff said and thank Stuart for organizing, and posting out the tickets and also providing various spares for those in need, myself included.

Hope every one arrived home safely.

Both of us had a great day and it was really nice to see old faces and some new one's. My thanks to Stuart for organising this year, without his help none of us would have been able to meet up.

Weather turned out very nice in the end and I've ended up with a very red faced again due to the sun! Shocked

The only car that was missing from this year was a 2.9 12v, every other type of car I think was represented.

Thanks to everyone for making a new comer welcome today and again to Stuart for organizing a cracking day. Once the inital down pour subsided it turned into a great day to remember. It was nice to see such a large number of these now rather scarce but still beautiful classics in one place at the same time. Tony, your car is a credit to you. and thanks Matt for the advice. Took the belt off and seems 101% better.

Hope you all got back home safe and sound and see you all next year, car permitting. Wink

Another thanks to Stuart from stu and myself, once we finally made it to the paddock (no thanks to the clowns on parking duty), nothing a bit of moaning couldnt solv lol we had a great day. I even managed to offload some bits and bobs and get a sunroof at long last. Some stunning scorps on display, must leave the mechanicals alone for a bit and get the body back up to scratch if im going to keep up lol.

Gozz, your limo with its odd bits has made me look into getting one lol

Simon, got the boot tool holder out, pm me your address and ill pop it in the post

Steve, glad to hear dropping the belt off has been worth while, keep us updated if it starts playing up again

And lastly, we should do another meet later in the year, harewood 2012 is to far away

there were two 12v's there, one parked beside your good lady, Brian (gemeg22171) and one behind you, Tony (Pianoman)

I dont think we had a 2 litre though?

4 x 24v's
5 x 2.3's
3 x Diesels
2 x 12v
1 x Granada
1 x Mercedes with more battery power than a G Wiz! Grin

One of the highlights for me was our Scorpio crew throwing up the Gazebo in 5 mins during the downpour then watching the Vauxhall Owners club spend TWO HOURS in the rain trying to build theirs Grin

This was our patch at 6.45am

And this was it at 6pm

Oh and in between it looked a bit like this Grin

Just home, been a long day but a good one and yes I've managed to get burnt again from that half our of sun we had!  Grin

£22.50 leftover cash sent to the forum fund

Hmmm dunno if the Vauxhall tent is meant to be just 4 feet high...

This was about an hour in, it was dismantled again shortly after Wink

The Morris Minor club were just in the background, all the Vauxhalls were off to the left
