I have a low ratio diff on my 24v but unfortunately the speedo readings are lower than the speed I'm doing. I need to be sure what my speedo says when doing 60 to do a test.  then I'd need my grandson to opperate the spopwatch and that will slow it down a bit.  I'd best be satisfied with "FAST" but not as fast as a modern supercar.
Best wishes

Dave.
Should it not read higher, the VSS thinks the wheels are turning faster in relation to it's gearing ?

The Chap who fitted the Diff also filled a different gear in the speedo drive to gearbox connector or where ever it goes but it left me with a lower speed reading than that which it was travelling at.

Thats interesting, fitting the 4.27 diff usually gives a speedo reading roughly 20mph above the actual speed.

For the speedo to read significantly lower than actual speed it must be a non scorpio VSS drive pinion that he fitted.

Can you find out what he fitted?

I don't know what gear was fitted to the speedo drive but assumed that it was one from a 2.0 ltr.  I find that when the car is doing 30mph the speedo says 35mph.  I have never been one for collecting licence points, so use the rule of "Add 10% + 5mph above the speed limit" and I would be suficiently below the limit to not have to worry about anything but the impatient motorist behind me.  I've lost track with the other "D_mn Dave" who did the modification to the car since he got married and became a white van man.
Best wishes

Ahhh, you're confusing us!!  Grin

So the speedo reading is higher not lower than actual speed.

Thats probably just slightly above the normal speedo reading for a Scorpio, we reckon most show 10% over actual speed as standard anyway.

Most manufacturers do it that way to help stop you getting caught speeding although the Scorpios seem to be over more than most cars

Stuart,

I think it's the excitement of seeing all the Scorpio's that it was too much for her and she needed a rest.

Matt,

Thanks for the spare wheel tool holder!
It was a surprise when it turned up at the house today, sure you don't want anything for it?

Cheers,
