R134 refill kits

Can you buy R134 service kits in the UK? I have one over here which includes a can of R134 gas with oil in it, a hose with connectors and a pressure gauge.

It allows you to refill your own AC rather than using a garage.

I'm going to bring a few back with me so if anyone wants one then shout now and I'll add extra ones in - the kits are about $30 (with one can of R13) and the extra cans of R134 are $12 each.

steve..

pretty sure you will not be able to get the "service kits" over here, A/C is classed as pretty much "speciality" work over here, and to be honest (but i am willing to stand corrected),the thought of being able to re-gas your own car would be pretty much unheard of,(i can just see the queue in casualty now),but i'll bet just because you cant buy the kits here,if it is pretty much straight forward to do,if you do bring some extra kits over, they will be popular, simply because of the cost involved over here....
you need your a/c regassed, you take it to a man who can,and he charges you what he likes,to give you a rough idea, the price being banged around to have a re-gas at weston ths year is in the region of £40.00.....

That's what I thought - whereas over here every car has AC and these kits are on every auto parts shop shelf. I'll pack a few extra in case anyone wants one at the meets I attend. The downside is that you can't extract and weigh the gas but for a yearly top-up it seems to be fine as the pressure gauge tells you whether you need any. And at $12 a can - that's about 7 quid.

Hi Steve

I'm interested, please pack one for me.   I'm living in Northwest Ireland so I won't be able to attend any of the meets to pick it up.   However I do have a Northern Ireland (UK) postal address and I will be happy to pay you for post and packaging, if you're prepared to do that.   I made enquiries with a local garage that was doing a 'special offer' on aircon regassing and after negotiating down their original price I was given a final quote of 120 euro (80+stg), so your DIY option will be much appreciated.   PM me and let me know if you can do this.

Thanks
Kevin

thanks craig, but i think it is more a case of old age than the boost mod. i will try that tho... but i tried the ac on cold the other day, first time this year, and all i got was a sort of warmish wind...  Wink
probably needs regassing, as last year it was ice cold!

I'll load a few extras up in the car.

The car is due to land in Southampton at the beginning of June so I'll let you know as soon as I pick her up etc.

Yep I recommend them as well.
Just Topped up my AC to the new levell with their DIY Kit.
And check out the AC mod I did, managed to get -1 Deg C coming out of the Centre vents!!
It will be colder next time I use it as I checked the presures and had to add some more gas.
